Journal Publication Ethics
Advances in Agricultural and Food Research Journal's manuscript management adheres to the “Code of Conduct for Journal Editors and Code of Conduct for Publishers” and Best Practice as stipulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to prevent misconduct of research papers. The editorial committee consider ethical publishing practices as a fundamental part of ethical responsibilities among authors. The editors are committed to maintaining high standards through a rigorous double-blinded peer review along with strict ethical policies. In order to avoid plagiarism, the author shall provide all the information about the novelty and importance of the findings including the similarity index report by iThenticate/Turnitin of 20% or less. In addition, the editor of the journal is doing our best to ensure fair, unbiased, and transparent peer review and editorial decisions. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. If the editor or the publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper. Any detected cases of misconduct, whether on the part of authors, reviewers or editors, will be vigorously pursued. And finally, each article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. Author(s) shall retain the copyright of their work and grant the Journal/Publisher right for the first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under: i. Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license allows for the copying, distribution and transmission of the work, provided the correct attribution of the original creator is stated. Adaptation and remixing are also permitted; ii. This broad license intends to facilitate free access to, as well as the unrestricted reuse of, original works of all types for non-commercial purposes; iii. Process for Post-publication Issues
Requests for Additions and Corrections:
Requests for Additions and Corrections can be initiated by the author(s) or the Editor to address important issues or rectify significant errors and omissions. All Additions and Corrections must receive approval from the Editor and should provide new and directly relevant information or corrections that rectify scientific facts. Minor corrections and additions will not be published. Readers who identify consequential errors in the work of others are encouraged to contact the corresponding author of the respective work.
To submit Additions and Corrections:
Additions and Corrections must be submitted as new manuscripts by the Corresponding Author to the Chief Editor of the journal. The corresponding author should get approval from all co-authors before submission or provide evidence of having asked for such approval. The manuscript should include the original article title and author list, citation with DOI, and details of the correction.
Retractions:
Articles may be retracted for scientific or ethical reasons, and the request for retraction can come from the article author(s) or the journal Editor(s). However, the decision to retract an article lies with the Editor. Articles containing seriously flawed or erroneous data that render their findings and conclusions unreliable may be retracted to correct the scientific record. When an article is retracted, a Retraction notice will be published, explaining the reason for the retraction. In most cases, the originally published article will remain accessible online, unless exceptional circumstances arise where legal requirements or public health risks demand its removal.
Expressions of Concern:
Expressions of Concern may be issued at the discretion of the Editor under certain circumstances, including:
- Inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct by the authors.
- Unreliable findings, but the authors' institution fails to investigate the case.
- An ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct that is unfair, impartial, or unlikely to provide a conclusive judgment.
- Investigations that are in progress but will take considerable time to reach a final determination.
The editorial expression of concern alerts the community that an investigation is ongoing. At any point during this process, authors will be informed to alert their institution and funding bodies if the investigation uncovers potentially serious issues.
Once any related investigation is completed and a final decision about the article's outcome is made, the Expression of Concern may be replaced with a Retraction notice or Correction notice as appropriate.
Usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
For Authors
The Advances in Agricultural and Food Research Journal upholds academic integrity and ethical standards in response to the growing use of AI tools in scholarly work. The policy allows limited use of AI for non-substantive tasks such as grammar correction, language refinement, and illustrative examples (with proper labelling and citation). AI tools can be used to assist with data analysis as part of traditional research methods. However, the methodology section must clearly explain the specific tools used, the parameters applied, and the reasons for their selection.
However, AI-generated content is prohibited for substantive manuscript sections, including abstracts, literature reviews, methodologies, results, and conclusions. AI cannot be used to fabricate data, create images, or simulate findings. All intellectual and research contributions must be the authors' original work.
Authors are required to disclose any AI usage in the Acknowledgements section, detailing the tools used and their specific purpose. Ultimate responsibility and accountability for the content rest entirely with the authors.
For Reviewers
Reviewers for the Advances in Agricultural and Food Research Journal may use AI tools to enhance the clarity, grammar, and formatting of their review reports, and to verify references or basic factual information. However, they are strictly prohibited from using AI to assess the intellectual content of a manuscript or generate substantive parts of their review. Reviewers must not disclose any manuscript content to AI tools to preserve the confidentiality of the review process. They are also responsible for identifying and reporting any suspected misuse of AI by authors and maintaining ethical standards throughout their review.
For Editors
Editors are permitted to use AI tools for non-substantive tasks such as streamlining editorial workflows, monitoring manuscript progress, and improving the clarity of communications like reviewer invitations or editorial decisions. However, AI must not be used to make key editorial judgments or to assess the intellectual quality of submissions. Additionally, AI-generated content for editorial letters or correspondence must involve human oversight. Editors are responsible for ensuring that authors disclose any AI usage, addressing ethical concerns, preserving the rigor of the peer review process, and providing clear guidance to reviewers on appropriate and ethical AI use in accordance with journal policies.
Ethical Considerations for All Parties
Authors, reviewers, and editors share a collective responsibility to ensure the accuracy and integrity of any content shaped by AI tools, which may occasionally produce misleading or fabricated outputs—commonly referred to as “AI hallucinations.” The use of AI must also adhere to established ethical standards, including the protection of data privacy, securing informed consent, and implementing measures to mitigate potential biases.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Non-adherence to this AI policy may lead to serious consequences.
- For authors, this includes potential manuscript rejection or retraction of published work.
- Reviewers who misuse AI tools or breach confidentiality may be removed from the reviewer pool.
- Editors who improperly use AI or neglect to enforce this policy may be subject to formal investigation and appropriate corrective measures.
Commitment to Ethical AI use
Advances in Agricultural and Food Research Journal is committed to upholding ethical and responsible use of AI in academic publishing. Adherence to this policy by all parties involved in the publication process helps safeguard the integrity, rigor, and credibility of scholarly research.
